Pikkewyntjes Preschool is in Mooi Uitsig, a small village with one tarred road and no road signs because there are so few roads and only one or two cars. The children attending the school who don’t live in Mooi Uitsig, also live in very small villages along the coast where there are mostly dirt roads and no need for signage on the roads except stop signs.

When they go to town in a taxi, however, there are tarred roads and robots and signs on the side of the road which the children must recognise in order to be safe in the traffic. There are also rules about where to walk (and not walk) to keep everyone safe.

Karel Kat knows exactly how to explain all this to small children without bewildering them or frightening them and a very happy morning was had by all.
