Did you know the preschool wasn’t called Pikkewyntjies / Penkidz because someone thought it would be a nice name?

The name was chosen because there is a Penguin Colony in Betty’s Bay with a staff dedicated to nurturing the welfare of these unique birds just as our staff nurture the welfare of our children.

The future of these unique sea birds was uncertain as the odds stacked up against their survival in a careless world. Cape Nature stepped in to create conditions for the penguins to breed in safety and a dedicated staff ensure these wild creatures live their lives as nature intended but no longer under the threat of extinction. Quite the contrary in fact as the colony flourishes and the population grows

Our children were certainly not facing extinction, thank goodness, but their future at school was uncertain and likely to be unhappy and confusing ending in failure. That changed dramatically when Pikkewyntjies opened its doors. Now from a secure base, confident and prepared, they can dive into school like the penguins into safe waters, and flourish.
